Pat O’Connor recently returned from a month long trip in Israel, Jordan, Egypt and a cruise through the Suez Canal. Listen to his stories with photographs as he describes his adventure.
Pat has provided numerous talks of his travel adventures throughout the world as well as his long distance hiking and kayaking trips. Pat retired from the military in 1989 with the goal to see the world. He has hiked the three long-distance trails in the U.S. (Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail). He has also walked 880 miles on a pilgrimage to the 88 most Sacred Temples on the island of Shikoku in Japan. He spend four months paddling his kayak with fellow kayaker Tom Jordan from Olympia to Skagway, Alaska. He also did a solo kayak trip down the Yukon River in 1998 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ’98 gold rush to Alaska.
Pat has encountered the three most dangerous creatures in North America: a rattlesnake, brown bear and cougar, and made friends with them all.
