Hear from Lane Sample of Fort Nisqually as she shares stories and examines artifacts of the first globally connected settlement on Puget Sound.

Lane Sample will talk about the early life at Fort Nisqually and the fort workers' interactions with Steilacoom, as well as discuss some of the artifacts in our collection and the stories that come with them. She will also give an overview of Fort Nisqually today and what it has to offer you.

Lane grew up in the Pacific Northwest and has spent the last 18 years at Fort Nisqually running educational programs for all ages, from summer camp programs to tours for older adults or working with teens. She lives on Anderson Island with her husband.

Explorations: Steilacoom Library Speaker Series programs are held at the Steilacoom Historical Museum.
