The 3rd annual Poetry in the Park event will feature poems from Pierce County Library System's Our Own Expressions contest winners and African American poetry at the Spanaway Lake and Wapato parks.

Looking for a Fall outdoor activity? The Tahoma Audubon Society, in partnership with the Pierce County Library System and Tacoma Public Libraries, join together to host Poetry in the Park. Take a poetry stroll in featured Pierce County parks from Sept. 1 - Oct. 17.

This year, Spanaway Lake Park will highlight "Our Own Expressions" local youth winners from the Pierce County Library and African American poems - and - Wapato Park in Tacoma will be featuring poems from Tacoma Ocean Fest youth poets and African American poetry.

You will find poetry signs on trails at the following Pierce County parks:

Adriana Hess Wetland ~ University Place
Fort Steilacoom Park ~ Lakewood
Snake Lake Park ~ Tacoma
Spanaway Lake Park ~ Spanaway (only through Oct. 11)
Thelma Gilmur Park ~ Fircrest
Wapato Park ~ Tacoma
