Tweens work together over 8 weeks to create an Escape Room. When the room is complete, we will share it with the Pierce County Library community to enjoy! The program is for tweens ages 9-12.

Over an eight week period, as part of the Summer Reading Program, tweens will create a Virtual Escape Room. Check out previous Escape Rooms created by the club here

Each week we will build on the previous week's work so we ask that tweens be able to attend the majority of the dates.

Week 1. What is a virtual escape room? Play through an example. Learn how we use google slides and forms to work together to create a virtual escape room, assign individual slides and forms, and start experimenting.

Week 2. Decide as a group on our escape room theme. Work on finding background images, objects, and inserting links.

Week 3. Work on individual slides and forms. Get help from the group as needed.

Week. 4. We will start by going through the slide deck and showing our work to the group. Is a story starting to emerge? What is missing? Continue to work on individual slides and start thinking about the whole escape room.

Week 5. Put slides in order. Are there gaps in our story? Work on filling in the gaps.

Week 6. Librarians will have put the final draft together. Test the draft as a group. Find and correct errors and make improvements.

Week 7. Read feedback gathered from outside testers. Decide if we want to make changes based on that feedback.

Week 8. Escape room finished! Celebrate with the group! We will play play through our escape room and play other games.
