Play, build and explore with a variety of sensory materials. Attend a short story time with A Step Ahead, a local organization supporting families of infants and toddlers with special needs.
Come play, build, and explore in this interactive sensory play experience for young children and their caregivers! Start your visit with hands-on sensory activities facilitated by A Step Ahead Pierce County, a local nonprofit that supports families of infants and toddlers with special needs or developmental concerns. Children will explore a variety of textures, tools, and materials that encourage movement, creativity, and discovery in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
The first 30 minutes (10:30-11:00am) of the Playful Connections program is set aside for families with children who interact best in low-sensory environments. From 11:00am - 12:00pm, the program is open to everyone.
The session wraps up with a short story time led by Pierce County Library staff—perfect for winding down and sharing stories together before heading home. A Step Ahead specialists will also be available throughout the program to answer questions, offer support, and connect families with helpful community resources.
This program is best suited for children ages 0–5 and their caregivers. Learn more about A Step Ahead Pierce County by visiting their website at https://www.asapc.org.
