Parkland/Spanaway Large Meeting Room

Learn about the histories, contributions, and lived experiences of those around us, as we uplift voices and explore stories that serve as mirrors of our lives and windows into different experiences.

Writing place has a long history in poetry. Join poet and teacher Laura Da' for a workshop on the concept of the map and how it has limitations for creating works and evoking place. Discover the ways worldview shapes, guides and hinders. Writing prompts will explore, break and reshape boundaries in language and storytelling to invigorate and inspire. Readings include work from author and poets Cedar Sigo, Camille Dungy, and Joy Harjo. All levels of experience welcome!
