From the 150-year-old pickle that resides in a Washington museum, to the foods found buried with mummies, and even the petrified banana that sparked a Banana Museum, discover why certain kinds of very old food still grip our imagination.
Why are some foods intentionally tucked away or preserved due to unusual, unintentional, or special circumstances? In this talk, hear and share stories of how these and other vintage vittles hold memories, tell stories, and connect us with family, culture, and history.
Speaker Bio
Harriet Baskas is an award-winning journalist and the author of nine books, including 111 Places in Seattle That You Must Not Miss and Hidden Treasures: What Museums Can’t or Won’t Show You. She writes about airports, aviation, museums, travel, and many other topics.
